Corporate Identity Project

Our objective for this simple project is to produce a slick sheet with 30 different interesting logs. Make sure you have examples for this list. Pick designs that you like. These will be inspiration for you own Corporate identity design.

  • Sports Teams (Mets, Knicks, Mahopac Indian etc.)
  • Oil Companies (Shell, Mobil)
  • Technology Companies (Dell, Microsoft)
  • Restaurants (McDonalds, Burger King"
  • Grocery Stores (Shoprite)
  • School Districts (Mahopac, Arlington)
  • Apparel Companies (Nike, Calvin Klein)
  • Hardware (Lowes, Home Depot)
  • Automobile Manufactures (Chevy, Ford)
  • Airlines (United, JetBlue)
  • Sporting Goods Manufacturers
  • Other?

Here is my example. Use "guidelines" and the "snap to" to help line up your symbols.

  • Post your collection to your blog.

  • Make the image X-Large.

  • Write a few comments about your choices. Which is the most recognisable?

  • Which do you like best? Why?

  • Do Corporate Identity Symbols influence your purchase decisions?

Tabloid Magazine

Do you ever peruse the tabloid magazines when on the checkout line in the supermarket. I think they are hilarious! You never no what crazy headline will appear. Elvis, Bigfoot and the Batboy always seem to make an appearance.

Assignment:

Create your own Tabloid Magazine

Procedure:
  1. Start with the original tabloid image. Found in the Student Commons.
  2. Block out the major areas.
  3. Create a new “Herald”, include date, issue etc.
  4. Manipulate images and insert them. Every photo must be manipulated in some way!
  5. Stretch text to fit as columns. Make sure your type is "justified". Remember the "Snap To" and "Guidelines" are your friend.
  6. Make a mailing label with a drop shadow.
  7. Add a bar code with Date and Company website address. (The blank bar-code is found in the student commons.)
